I’m in a foul mood today, so this communiqué will be short. It’s been raining for three days and three nights. One more day of this miserable weather and I’m going to have Andrew build us an ark. Well, maybe not, seeing as how we already live on a boat. We being myself, Danny the Dog, and my human, Andrew.

The thing about rain I don’t like is that it’s wet. It soaks your fur; it keeps you inside when you could be out chasing iguanas or running down a tantalizing scent. And to top it off, it brings thunder with it. And I don’t like thunder! Another thing I don’t like about rain is that one has to go outside to do one’s “business.” Hey . . . I can hold it. I’ll wait until it’s dry outside, but Andrew insists that I go out at least twice a…

Danny Confesses…

Chris The Story Reading Ape's Blog

Good morning, gentle souls; I am Daniel J. Daniels, Dog Extraordinaire. Most of you will know me by my nom de plume, Danny the Dog. As another great writer (but not as good as me) once said, “A rose by any other name . . .”

danny-xxx
Today I have a smorgasbord of tales to tell. So sit back and relax. Put your feet up, light your favorite pipe, have a glass of wine, or dig into that box of chocolates that has been calling to you—for you are in for a rare treat. Today I am going to confess a few (just a few) of my sins. At least Andrew, my human, refers to them as sins. I say they are only idiosyncrasies. But I’ll let you kind, empathetic, thoughtful, and intelligent folks be the judge.

I think I’ll start off with the longest-running complaint Andrew has about me…

#GUEST POST ~ Danny the Dog

This guy’s pretty entertaining and he’s real good lookin’!

TINA FRISCO

My very special guest today is none other than the dauntless and debonair #Danny the Dog, who has kindly contributed one of his adventure stories. Danny’s person, best-selling author Andrew Joyce, will begin by introducing our celebrated canine friend.

*************

Andrew JoyceMy name is Andrew Joyce and I write books for a living. Tina has been kind enough to allow me a little space on her blog to promote my new novel, Yellow Hair. I think it’s a good book, but what do I know? Anyway, I’m kinda shy about tooting my own horn. So I think I’ll turn things over to my dog Danny. He always has a bad attitude and usually does not speak highly of me. But please understand that we co-exist as the old Soviet Union and the United States once co-existed. We tolerate each other. So without further ado, here’s Danny.

Danny Meditating DANNY MEDITATING

Today, we’re sitting down with the authors Andrew Joyce and Danny the Dog for a joint interview, so without further ado, let’s get started.

Thank you for agreeing to do this interview.

AJ: It’s a pleasure to be here.

DD: Me too.

Tell me a little about yourselves and your backgrounds?

AJ: I’m a writer, which surprises me greatly. For the first three years of my writing career, I never referred to myself as a writer. It was only when the royalties started coming in and I could quit my day job that I dared think of myself as such.

DD: I’m a dog.

What book or books have had a strong influence on you and/or your writing?

AJ: The works of Louis L’Amour and Robert B. Parker.

DD: The genius writings of Danny the Dog.

AJ: Excuse me…

Danny’s Christmas Message

Chris The Story Reading Ape's Blog

Danny Looks
Good morning, Gentle Reader. I am Danny the Dog,
bon vivant, literary genius and all around good doggie. I live on a boat with my human in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and when I can sneak in a little computer time, I write a blog. I lead such an adventurous life, one might think my stories are fiction, but I assure you they are all true.

Of course, I am quite famous and have legions of adoring fans. Everyone loves me. Below you will find my annual Christmas message.

.

Danny’s Christmas Message

Merry Christmas to all you dog lovers out there. It is I, Danny the Dog, here to impart—as usual—my wisdom to you frail humans. I’d rather be imparting my wisdom directly to my canine brothers and sisters, but it seems that I am the only dog that I know of that can read, never mind write.

It’s…

Danny and Cinnamon

Chris The Story Reading Ape's Blog

Sometimes I write an introduction to my stories and sometimes I don’t. It depends. Well, this is one of those times I think I should explain things. I just want you to know what you are about to read is true. I may have embellished the part about Andrew’s interaction with the female a bit. (I felt sorry for the old guy.) But everything else is as it happened.

Danny and Cinnamon

001

By now most of you should know me, but for those few who don’t, I’m Danny the Dog, and every once in a while, I chronicle my exploits here on Mr. Ape’s site. Today I want to tell you of my morning walk of a few days ago. I always take my human with me when I go for my walks. He needs the exercise. His name is Andrew.

On this particular morning, I was feeling pretty feisty…

Danny’s Annual Christmas Message

Chris The Story Reading Ape's Blog

Danny’s Annual Christmas Message

Well, it’s that time of year where I have to set the world right with my message of peace and love. It’s a big responsibility, but it’s the least that I can do for my fellow canines and their humans.

I reckon I should first introduce myself to those of you who have been off planet for the last few years. I am Danny the Dog, dog extraordinaire. Humans wait with bated breath for my monthly epistles to appear in print. Scientists consult me for the cure of various diseases. And Andrew, my human, needs me to turn on his computer every morning. You would think by now he would have mastered the complicated process of pressing a particular button, but you’d be wrong.

Before I get to my message of peace and love, I’d like to tell you a little about my trials and tribulations…
